damn

Smashed my finger tips opening a window.

Arrgh!

And the noise and view from the window scared the cat too.

Lovely.

Mike Scott blogs too!

Mike Scott (The Waterboys) has a page set up on MySpace and has been blogging there. He's also touring, so he's also treating his readers to the delights of the road. He had a particularly funny one about his hotel bed (the guy seems prone to bad bed issues :-) ) and the Lisbon airport.

Not quite as funny as SK's Swedish meltdown (still one of my faves), but lots of fun too.

I've been a fan of The Waterboys for quite a long time too -- actually got to see them live once. I'm pretty sure it was for the album after Fisherman's Blues (FB is still my fave of their's). It was an excellent show too. It was a really fun show! And Mike Scott had these great eyes. Only bad thing was Wickham wasn't with the band then -- I guess that was when he had left the band. That was disappointing. Still, it was a great show.

Anyway, here's a link to The Waterboys MySpace site.

um...

later i divide n work out the bill
including the tip
thats your job for this tour says tp
just so you have yr own job

If the Fed Ex tube of paintings I received this morning is any indication, Tim might wanna reconsider giving that job to Steve. Early last week Steve told me he was sending me three paintings. On the paperwork on the outside of the package he wrote six paintings. I opened the tube and found five.

It isn't the first time he's done that either. One tube (which was lost in transit for a week, causing enormous stress for both of us) had 10 paintings noted on the outside paperwork, but actually contained 14. Just about every shipment of paintings I get has a different number noted on the outside paperwork than what is actually inside. Just made me snicker a bit

I just figure that's not one of Steve's strong suits. :-) .

Another bit that made me laugh was this:

we say wheres dessert
and we get these bowls of tepid water
with bits of burnt rice in it
is it sweet we ask
sweet asks the waitress
she aint heard that word in this restaurant before
sweet?
she laughs .....no oooo'
it really actually tastes like dishwater with burnt bitso'rice
maybe its a joke we think

Steve especially apparently has a major sweet tooth so his disappointment was so pitiful.

Plus it reminded me of a story my mum used to tell. When she was young (late teens probably), she got a job as a waitress at a restaurant owned by some family friends. She wasn't very good at it as illustrated by the time a customer asked for a cup of coffee. She got it for him and he took a sip. "Ugghh! This coffee tastes like dishwater!" he exclaimed. She looked at him and said, "Oh! That's just what it is!" (they had two coffeemakers and to clean them they ran dishwater through the perk cycle. She had gotten "coffee" from the one being cleaned...)

Needless to say that was the end of her waitressing days.

monkey wrench

Now my brother tells me he might not get the week off he put in for after all. Well that would really fuck with my plans. Not only have I purchased tickets for all the shows, but a friend has made flight reservations to go to Chicago where we were supposed to meet, see the show there, and then head up to Milwaukee for the next show.

And the shows I am planning on are at the end of the tour so if I do have to change we will have to move everything up. And there are problems with most of the other weeks/weekends as well. The shows on weekend before for example (the PA and MI shows) are out because he has a race that weekend. I'm already disappointed not being able to get to the MI show as it is, but if I can't get to the rest of the midwestern gigs I'll really be irritated.

So after the holiday I'm going to start pursuing "Plan B" which is to check into someone outside family to care for my aunt for the time I'm gone. There is a respite care program run by the county board of mental retardation that I am going to look into. That might be something that would work for her (and me) if other arrangements can't be made.

From what I have been able to check out on their website she could get care for up to two weeks. Hey...maybe I could work in a few other shows.... hmm.... This might work out well after all... :D
